Gardaí are tonight questioning a man in connection with a serious assault in central Dublin last night.
A Polish national, 31, is in a critical condition in hospital after he received serious head injuries on Upper Gardiner Street at 11pm.
Gardaí say he was attacked by a group of up to six people and then thrown over a railing into a basement.
After a garda appeal for witnesses today, a man was arrested and is being questioned by officers at Mountjoy Square Station.

A spokesperson for the Mater Hospital on the city's north side said that the injured man was in a critical condition.
