Gardaí have arrested an 81-year-old man and a woman in her 70s in connection with the murder of a man in Limerick City last night.
Both are in custody at Mayorstone Garda Station under section 30 of the Offences Against The State Act.
The victim (25) was shot in the head by a gunman outside his house on St Ita's Street in the St Mary's Park area at 10.15pm.
Members of the Garda's Emergency Response Unit, who were on patrol in the area, tried to resuscitate the father-of-three as he lay injured.
He was then taken to the Mid-Western Regional hospital but was dead on admission.
A man (20) was arrested shortly after the murder and is still being held at Henry Street Garda station.
Gardaí this evening also retrieved a firearm and ammunition from several searches in the St Mary's Park area of the city which they believe may be connected with the investigation, a Garda spokesman said.

Limerick East Labour TD Jan O'Sullivan said the area had suffered a number of recent shootings, leaving residents living in fear.
"It is very worrying for the people living there. It is an area where people are in fear of speaking out," she said. "The gardaí are well-informed of what is going on there and would have very good intelligence but, in terms of preventing incidents like what happened last night, it is difficult."
Sinn Féin's justice spokesman Aengus Ó Snodaigh said the murder highlighted the need to civilianise Garda administration.
"We have gardaí, fully trained to fight crime, working on administrative tasks that could be done by civilians. This is unacceptable. These gardaí are needed for the fight against crime and should be redeployed," he said.
"How many more people have to be killed before the Minister for Justice acts? If he is serious about combating the serious criminals in our society then he must free up the gardaí to do it."
