Man injured in Cork stabbing

A 35-year-old man is recovering in Cork University Hospital after being stabbed early this morning.

A 35-year-old man is recovering in Cork University Hospital after being stabbed early this morning.

The incident took place at Parkview, Wellington Road, Cork, at approximately 6.25am. The man was found lying on the road by a passer-by. He was stabbed a number of times in the back and in the arms.

Gardaí believe the man, who lives with his partner in an flat at Parkview was involved in a row in a flat at around 6.25am.

Technical experts have begun an examination of the flat and they have recovered a knife which they believe may have been used in the attack.

He underwent surgery in hospital but his injuries are described as not life threatening.

Gardaí hope to speak to him later today.
