Paul Ward, of Walkinstown Road, Dublin, was sentenced to a total of 15 months in prison at Rathfarnham District Court yesterday for driving offences. He was also fined £350 for allowing another man to drive his car without insurance last September.

Ward was escorted by six gardai as he was sentenced to nine months for two counts of driving without insurance a car belonging to Ms Veronica Meehan, from Stanaway Road, Crumlin, last August and September. He was also sentenced to a further six months on two charges of driving this car while he was already disqualified. He was also fined £350 for allowing Mr Paul Meehan to drive a vehicle belonging to him at Sundrive Road, Dublin, on March 22nd last. Judge Sean Delap yesterday disqualified Ward from driving for 15 years. The defendant is to appeal.
