A man (85) has been killed in a four-car crash in south Dublin last night.

A man (85) has been killed in a four-car crash in south Dublin last night.

The crash happened at Orwell Road in Rathgar at 9pm. Six other people were injured and have been taken to St James's and St Vincent's Hospitals. The road remains closed for a technical examination.

Meanwhile gardaí today named the 24-year-old man killed near the village of Dungourney in Cork on Tuesday last as Adam Michna of Ard Na Corann, Midleton, Cork.

Gardaí in Cavan who are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the Cavan by-pass yesterday morning, in which a woman (48) was killed, are also appealing to the driver and/or occupants of a SUV to contact them.

This vehicle is believed to have been at the scene immediately prior to or at the time of the collision. It is dark in colour and was possibly driven by a female. Gardai believe the occupants of the vehicle may have vital information in relation to the collision and have asked them to make contact with gardaí at Cavan on 049 4368800.
