Police investigating the discovery of a man's body on a roadside in Co Armagh yesterday believe he was the victim of a hit and run driver.

The body of John Oliver McKinney (23), of Newtownhamilton Road, Armagh, was discovered near Tullygoonigan, on the main Armagh to Moy Road.

It is understood he suffered lacerations to the upper body. Following a post-mortem, an RUC spokesman said Mr McKinney died fron injuries consistent with a road traffic accident. The body was discovered lying on a grass verge at the side of a road three miles from Armagh city by a woman passer-by. The main Armagh to Moy road was closed for several hours yesterday while an investigation was carried out and the man's relatives visited the scene. The body was discovered just after 9 a.m., but the RUC said it could have lain undiscovered for some hours.
