A Dublin man (64) has gone on trial at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court for the sexual assault and defilement of a child. Pleas of not guilty were entered by the court on his behalf on all 14 counts after he refused to indicate whether he would plead guilty or not guilty.
The charges included two of sexual assault and 12 of defilement of a child in both Kildare and Dublin between August 1st, 2008 and January 6th, 2009.
Tara Burns, prosecuting, told the jury it would hear the accused was a friend of the complainant’s father and that a sexual relationship developed between them when the child was 14.
