Mr John Crerar (51), of Woodside Park, Kildare, is charged with the murder of Ms Phyllis Murphy (23), on December 22nd, 1979. He was remanded in custody at Newbridge District Court earlier this month.

In the High Court yesterday, Mr Justice O'Higgins allowed bail on terms agreed by the Director of Public Prosecutions. Mr Crerar was granted bail on his own bond of £5,000 and an independent surety or cash lodgement of £10,000. He must live at an address to be agreed with Supt John Fleming and sign on weekly at a Garda station to be agreed with the superintendent.
