A Dublin man who is serving a 12-year sentence for the attempted murder of his friend who has since died is now on trial for his murder. Jonathan Dunne (26), Windmill Park, Crumlin, has pleaded not guilty to murdering Ian Kenny (21) at Lakelands Road, Stillorgan, Dublin, on July 31st, 2009.
The court was told that the events in which Mr Kenny, also from Crumlin, sustained two gunshot wounds took place two years earlier on July 4th, 2007. He survived in a vegetative state until July 31st, 2009. Brendan Grehan SC, defending, said Dunne had pleaded guilty to attempted murder in April 2008 and a 12-year sentence was imposed.
The trial continues before Mr Justice Paul Carney.
