Man pleads not guilty to murder

A man charged with murder pleaded not guilty in the Central Criminal Court yesterday.

A man charged with murder pleaded not guilty in the Central Criminal Court yesterday.

Mr William Campion (31), a father of four, of no fixed abode but formerly of Moyross, Limerick, pleaded not guilty to the murder of Mr Patrick "Paud" Skehan (68), a Co Clare bachelor farmer of Ardataggle, Bridgetown, at his home on June 3rd, 1998. He also pleaded not guilty to burglary and to trespassing into Mr Skehan's home with intent to steal in April 1998.

The trial is expected to begin before Mr Justice O Caoimh and a jury of seven women and five men later this week.
