A man charged with the manslaughter of three elderly sisters in a house fire on Inishbofin last summer was remanded in custody at Galway District Court yesterday after he failed to comply with conditions attached to his bail.
Mr Alan Murphy, aged 25, a native of Newcastle, Co Down and with former addresses at Clifden, Co Galway, and Drumcondra, Dublin, is charged with the manslaughter of Ms Eileen Coyne (82), Middle Quarter, Inishbofin, and her sisters Bridget McFadden (72) and Margaret Concannon (76), on July 6th last year.
At yesterday's court Supt Tony O'Dowd of Clifden applied for the revocation of Mr Murphy's bail and have him remanded in custody, as he had failed to comply with two conditions of his bail.
Mr Murphy, he said, had undertaken in the High Court to stay at an address at Church Avenue, Drumcondra, Dublin, but gardai had learned that he had never lived at that address.
He had also undertaken to sign on at Whitehall Garda station three times a week, and had not done so in the last two weeks.
Mr Murphy was remanded in custody by Judge John Garavan to appear before the court again on March 1st.
