A MAN has been remanded in custody in relation to the disappearance of a Latvian man in Galway.
Sergeis Krauze (35), a Latvian national with an address at Dudley Heights, Glenamaddy, Co Galway, was remanded when he appeared before a special sitting of Tuam District Court in Galway city yesterday.
Mr Krauze was charged with withholding information in connection with the disappearance of compatriot Juris Buls (30).
Mr Buls was last seen at his house at Ballymore Road in Glenamaddy on Thursday, July 7th, when he left for work at Titan Plastics in the north Galway town.
Gardaí discovered Mr Buls’s body on Saturday evening in woods close to the village of Creggs on the Galway-Roscommon border, about 10km from where he lived.
Deputy State Pathologist Dr Michael Curtis travelled to Co Galway yesterday to carry out a postmortem.
Gardaí opposed a bail application from Mr Krauze on a number of grounds. Insp Mick O’Dwyer outlined a number of the objections to bail.
Judge Geoffrey Browne refused bail, and remanded Mr Krauze in custody to appear before Tuam District Court tomorrow.
