A man has been remanded in custody charged with harassing a teenage girl in north Co Dublin last month.

A man has been remanded in custody charged with harassing a teenage girl in north Co Dublin last month.

The 32-year-old unemployed Nigerian man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is accused of harassing the girl on October 13 that Selskar Road, Skerries, contrary to Section 10 of the Non Fatal Offences Against the Persons Act.

Swords District Court heard the man, who was arrested yesterday, made no reply when charged.

Gardaí objected to bail, citing the seriousness of the charge before the court; the possibility of further more serious charges being brought; the possibility that he could interfere with potential witnesses and concerns he could leave the jurisdiction.

No application was made for bail.

Judge Patrick Brady granted the man legal aid and remanded him in custody to appear before Cloverhill District Court next week.
