A Drogheda man charged with conspiring to commit a robbery was freed on Pounds 21,000 bail at the Special Criminal Court in Dublin yesterday. Mr Thomas Coyle (47), of Rockville, Duleek Street, was also ordered to sign on once a week at Drogheda Garda station.

Mr Coyle was one of five men charged on Tuesday with conspiracy to commit a robbery at NEC Semi-Conductors (Ireland) in Ballivor, Co Meath, in November 1995. The others are Dublin men: Mr Michael Mahony (48), of Drumcairn Avenue, Tallaght; Mr David Corless (40), of Hawthorn; Drive, Ballinteer; Mr James O'Brien (45), of Park Drive, Ranelagh; and Mr John Kelly (42), of Mulvey Park, Dundrum.

Mr O'Brien was also charged with handling stolen property, two oil paintings by Sir John Lavery.

Mr Kelly was further charged with handling stolen property, four computers. All five men have been remanded on bail until July 15th.
