Man remanded over Clare murder

A 24-year-old man has again been remanded in custody charged with the fatal shooting of a man in Co Clare last week.

A 24-year-old man has again been remanded in custody charged with the fatal shooting of a man in Co Clare last week.

At a special sitting of Ennis District Court, Brendan O’Sullivan of O’Gorman Street, Kilrush, appeared in court charged with the murder of Leslie Kenny (27) at O’Gorman Street, Kilrush on July 29th. Mr O'Sullivan denies the charge.

In court, today, solicitor for Mr O’Sullivan, Eugene O’Kelly said an independent autopsy has been carried out on the body of Mr Kenny on behalf of the defence.

Mr Kenny died after sustaining a number of shot-gun wounds. State Pathologist, Dr Maire Cassidy has already carried out a post mortem on Mr Kenny’s body.

Insp Michael Gallagher of Ennis Garda Station applied that Mr O’Sullivan, who was making his second appearance in court today in connection with the alleged offence, be further remanded in custody for one week to next Monday, August 10th.

Mr O’Kelly said an application for bail will be made in the High Court next Monday.

Judge Leo Malone remanded Mr O’Sullivan in custody to appear again before the Ennis District Court on Monday, August 17th.
