A man (43) has been remanded in custody in connection with €240,000 drugs seizure in Cork city earlier this week.
Denis Flynn with an address at a Flat on Upper John Street in Cork appeared at a special sitting of Cork District Court last night .
He was brought before the special court sitting and charged with two offences relating to the seizure of 20kgs of cannabis on December 22nd.
Mr Flynn was charged with possession of cannabis and possession of cannabis for sale or supply at Harrington’s Square, Dillons Cross.
At last night’s special sitting, Det Garda Ian Cahalane gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution in relation to Mr Flynn.
He told the court that Mr Flynn made no reply to either charge when they were put to him after caution.
Mr Flynn’s solicitor, Frank Buttimer said his client was seeking bail but gardai objected and said they were seeking a remand in custody.
Following submissions, Judge David Riordan refused bail and remanded Mr Flynn in custody to appear in court again on December 29th.
