A 32-year-old man appeared in court in Limerick today charged in connection with an incident in which a car was stolen with a two-year-old child inside.

Noel Price of Kileely Road, Limerick is charged with hijacking the car at Old Cratloe Road, Limerick, yesterday.

He appeared before Limerick District Court, where Gda Neil O’Gorman gave evidence of arresting and formally charging him at Henry Street Garda Station this morning.

The court heard the accused man made no reply to the charge after caution.

Solicitor Sarah Ryan was assigned to represent Mr Price. She said she was reserving her position on bail but said an application would be made at her client’s next court appearance.

Judge Tom O’Donnell remanded Mr Price in custody to appear before the same court again on January 26th.

Judge O’Donnell ordered that the State be notified in advance of any bail application.

Dressed in a grey hooded top, Mr Price remained silent throughout the brief hearing.
