A 29-year-old man has been  remanded in custody charged in connection with an attempted so-called 'tiger' robbery in Dublin last week

Tony Quinn, with an address at Park View, Park Close, Balbutcher Lane, Ballymun, Dublin appeared at a sitting of Dublin District Court today

Mr Quinn was charged with handling €318,000 in cash, at Broombridge, on September 22ndt, contrary to Section 17 of the Theft and Fraud Offences Act.

The cash was recovered by gardaí after a female staff member at Permanent TSB was told via phone in her Dublin workplace that her boyfriend was being held hostage by an armed gang.

The woman was told to take money from the bank where she worked and leave it near a Dublin train station or her partner would be harmed.

Mr Quinn was remanded in custody to appear at Cloverhill District Court on Friday.
