Gardai are expected to arrest a man in his mid-20s who robbed the AIB branch at Blackrock, Co Dublin, twice in the past eight days. The man first robbed the bank last Wednesday week, threatening staff with a handgun, believed to have been a replica. On that occasion he escaped with almost £1,000. He made off on a motor-scooter. He was filmed on the bank's closed circuit security cameras.
Yesterday he reappeared at the same bank, this time wielding a syringe, and forced staff to hand over several hundred pounds. Detectives from Blackrock identified the man, who is understood to come from the Crumlin area. He is wanted in connection with other offences.
