The body of a man has been recovered from the sea near Fanore, in north Co Clare.
The remains, thought to be of a man in his late 20s or early 30s, were spotted on the shoreline by people out walking.
Members of Doolin Coast Guard and gardai recovered the body, which was taken to the Mid Western Regional Hospital in Limerick. A post-mortem examination is to be carried out tomorrow.
It is understood the body appears to have been in the water for at least a week.
