A man in his forties has been shot dead at a halting site in north Dublin.

A man in his forties has been shot dead at a halting site in north Dublin.

The shooting took place shortly before 10pm yesterday at the St Margaret’s halting site in Ballymun.

The 49-year-old victim was taken to the Mater hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A car, understood to have been used by those responsible for the shooting, was later found burned out in Finglas.

Gardaí in Ballymun are appealing to anyone who may have seen two men get over the fence onto the M50 just before the Finglas exit southbound or who may have seen a vehicle waiting or acting suspiciously close to the Finglas exit between 9.45pm and 10pm yesterday to contact them on 01 6664400.
