A member of a gang who supplied heroin and cocaine to prostitutes has been given a four-year suspended sentence by Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.
David Ryan (34), Clonliffe Road, Drumcondra, pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine and heroin with intent to supply on November 17th, 1998. Ryan was working for a criminal who specialised in selling drugs to prostitutes. Garda Tony Brady agreed with defence counsel Mr Cormac Quinn that Ryan had been a chronic drug addict but had since entered a rehabilitation programme.
Judge Pat McCartan said he was satisfied Ryan was making efforts to get out of the drugs trade. He suspended the sentence for six years until Ryan's 40th birthday.
