Manchester United have moved to solve their defensive problems by bidding for Malaga centre-back Fernando Sanz, it was reported today.
Sanz, 27, joined Malaga from Real Madrid after six seasons at the Bernabeu where he made only 35 appearances.
He is the son of former Real Madrid president Lorenzo Sanz.
Malaga president Serafin Roldan admitted the Spanish club had received an offer for Sanz from the English champions.

"The offer is formal," he told the Daily Telegraph.
While Malaga could accept the offer, Roldan said the proposed transfer was a "delicate issue" as Sanz would only be able to leave during Spanish football's January transfer window.
