Racing:Henry Cecil's Manifest turned the Emirates Airline Yorkshire Cup into a procession with a stunning success under Tom Queally.
Second to Harbinger in the John Porter Stakes on his seasonal reappearance over a mile and a half, the son of Rainbow Quest relished the extra two furlongs
Sent off the 13-8 favourite due to a few withdrawals on account of the ground, it just took him a few strides to hit top gear and Frankie Dettori looked menacing on Wajir.
However, as soon as Manifest hit top gear he left the others as if they were stood still, and bigger prizes must surely beckon for the lightly-raced colt.
He had eight lengths in hand of Purple Moon at the line, and the runner-up never threatened.
The winner was given an 8-1 quote for the Ascot Gold Cup by Victor Chandler.
Queally said: “He did it very well. He ran a hell of a race in the John Porter and Harbinger has gone on to frank the form. I’m delighted with the performance.
“All our horses have improved between 5lb and 7lb for a run. He’s no different and no exception to the rule. I think he stays quite well, he certainly wasn’t stopping there.
“He just takes a little bit of time to go up through the gears. Once he reaches that top gear he is something to be reckoned with.”
