A social welfare manager who beat his wife to death with a car jack has had his sentence for manslaughter put back because there was no probation report available.
Mr Justice Finnegan remanded Patrick Hennessy (37), of Killaloe, Callan, Co Kilkenny, in custody for sentence on April 3rd. In October a jury convicted him of the manslaughter of his wife, Marie, who died two days after he attacked her on the side of the road near Callan on May 10th, 1999.
