F1: Felipe Massa is determined to show Michael Schumacher he is ready to become Ferrari's next Formula One world champion.
For the first time since his retirement at the end of last season, Schumacher will attend a grand prix in his role as advisor to the Maranello marque.
The seven-times champion, who won five of his crowns with Ferrari, is expected to fly in on Friday for this weekend's Spanish Grand Prix at Barcelona's Circuit de Catalunya.
Schumacher's role will apparently be nothing more than a watching brief, potentially from the pits, as he does not want to attract too much attention.
Massa, who partnered Schumacher at Ferrari last year, is delighted his mentor will again be around after learning many of the ropes from the 38-year-old German.
"I'm very happy about it, and he will surely be able to give us an extra boost and enthusiasm," said Massa.
"Personally, I owe Michael a lot. In the year we were together he taught me many things. I've improved also thanks to him and I'll do my best to show him that."
Massa feels he can become world champion this season, despite an indifferent start to the year.
The Brazilian trails the leading trio of team-mate Kimi Raikkonen and the McLaren duo of Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton by just five points in the drivers' standings.
Massa finished a creditable sixth in the opener in Australia after starting at the back of the grid due to a gearbox failure in qualifying and then an engine change.
But in Malaysia he was taught a lesson by rookie Hamilton and was forced to settle for fifth after starting on pole.
Then in the last race in Bahrain four weeks ago he regained his composure to claim the victory and keep himself in the hunt for the title.
"The world title is my objective, and I think I have the car to win it," Massa told Gazzetta dello Sport.
When asked as to who he feared most out of the leading trio, Massa replied: "All three of them by an equal amount.
"The reason they are a bit ahead now is down to technical problems we had in the first race in Melbourne, and to a couple of mistakes in the second GP in Malaysia.
"But I think I've sorted the situation fairly well with victory in Bahrain."
