Gardaí are looking for witnesses after a 21-year-old woman was seriously assaulted in Castlebar, Co Mayo early this morning.
The women was picked up by a car outside Mantra niteclub on Newantrim Street in the town, at about 2am.
Gardai would like to speak to anyone who was outside the niteclub who may have seen the young woman, who was wearing a light-blue hoodie, get into a car.
The car drove out the Westport Road and the women was seriously assaulted by the driver of the car. The car drove off and the woman was left on the side of the road. She was picked up in a car by a young couple and taken home.
Gardai would like this couple, who are described as in their late teens or early twenties, to contact them at Castlebar Garda station on 094 9038200.
