The Mayo county board have been hit with a €5,000 fine after missiles were thrown from the crowd at Kerry players during the recent National Football League game in Castlebar.

Kieran Donaghy, who has since received a one-match ban for reacting with an offensive gesture to the home supporters, was one of a number of Kerry players who had coins and missiles thrown in their direction.

The Mayo board have also been instructed to install CCTV cameras at McHale Park in a bid to ensure there is no repeat of the incidents.

Mayo's bid for league survival, meanwhile, suffered a further blow with the confirmation that Peadar Gardiner has been ruled out for the rest of the campaign.
