Liverpool midfielder Gary McAllister is ready to come out of international retirement to play for Scotland.
The former Leeds United and Coventry City star decided to quit after being booed in the Euro 2000 qualifier against Czech Republic at Celtic Park.
The news will come as a huge boost for Scotland boss Craig Brown, who has always left the door open for McAllister to return to the international set-up.
McAllister, who is now playing regularly at the heart of an in-form Liverpool side, told the Sunday Mail: "The negative feelings have gone. If I have to say the words then I forgive the supporters who verbally abused me that night against the Czechs. The manager knew I had not taken my decision to quit lightly.
"I believe a man is entitled to change his mind and the zest is back in my professional life now my domestic situation is clearer. Maybe Craig might consider a place for me if there is a massive emergency before any game in the future. And if he did come for me I would not turn him down," McAllister said.
