Manchester United number two Steve McClaren has confirmed he will be taking over as manager of premier league Middlesbrough on Monday, The Mail on Sunday reported.
The report said McClaren, deputy to Alex Ferguson at Manchester United, would sign a five-year contract.
"I had reached a stage where I needed to take a change in direction and the chance to manage a terrific club like Middlesbrough provided it," McClaren told the newspaper.
Former Middlesbrough manager Bryan Robson and his assistant Viv Anderson left Middlesbrough by mutual consent last Tuesday.
