Irish jockey Tony McCoy today broke his own record for the fastest century of winners in a season when he steered Present Bleu to an easy success in the Sussex County Cricket Club Claiming Hurdle at Plumpton.

His previous fastest ton came in the 1997-98 season when he achieved the feat on Sam Rockett at Newton Abbot on November 5th.

He missed breaking that record by one day last year, after taking a two-week break and being off for three weeks with concussion, but this time he has beaten it by seven weeks.

Since the 2000-01 campaign, the jumps season has concluded after the Whitbread Gold Cup meeting at Sandown at the end of April with the new term beginning just two days later. Previously, it had finished and started around a month later.
