Tony McCoy's broken arm, suffered in a fall at Worcester last night, is a big setback to his oft-stated target of riding 300 winners in a season.
He has ridden 36 winners so far this season but this latest injury could give the great champion a mountain to climb again.
McCoy is seeking to win the jockeys' championship for the ninth consecutive season after equalling Peter Scudamore on eight.
The champion jockey recorded the most successful season in racing history when he partnered 289 winners in 2001-02, but the feat only fuelled his desire for more.
