RACING: Tony McCoy remains three short of the magic mark of 3,000 jumps winners and will head to Leicester on Wednesday with four decent-looking rides. The champion jockey had something of a wasted journey to Taunton on Tuesday for two bookings, neither of which won.
The best chance of victory looked to be through Nicky Henderson’s Larks Lad in the concluding bumper but something was clearly amiss with the 10-11 favourite and he was pulled-up on the back straight.
McCoy’s other mount fared much better in the three-mile novice hurdle. He steered Tim Vaughan’s Jokers Legacy home to be second but the combination always had a mountain to climb against the 1-3 favourite Inchidaly Rock.
He is now Leicester-bound with four rides for his retaining owner JP McManus, all of which come from his main trainer Jonjo O’Neill.
Both Kia Kaha and Rate of Knots could well be sent off favourite while Phoudamour and Johns Square have outside chances too.
