The Minister for Justice has appointed a new board to head up the Equality Authority.
Mrs Karen Erwin is the new chairperson of the board. Mrs Erwin is a solicitor by profession and is the former Director and Group Central Counsel of The Irish Times.
In 2001 she was appointed by the Government to Chair the Interim Board of the Irish Auditing and Accounting Supervisory Authority, a body which is to oversee the auditing and accountancy profession in Ireland.
The 11 other members of the Board are:
