Golf – World Rankings:Graeme McDowell and Justin Rose and Graeme McDowell are up to 36th and 33rd and respectively in the latest world rankings after their wins on both sides of the Atlantic.
McDowell improved eight places after his win at the Wales Open in Celtic Manor, while Rose’s first US PGA Tour victory at the Memorial Tournament lifts him 33 spots.
Welshman Rhys Davies, runner-up in Wales just as he was to Luke Donald in Madrid the week before, moves into the top 50 for the first time at 45th.
Because of the relative strengths of the fields - Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson were competing in Ohio - Rose earned 66 ranking points compared to McDowell’s 38.
Rory McIlroy remains inside the world top 10 after his tied 10th finish at the Memorial, while Pádraig Harrington is 14th.
