GAA:Seamus McEnaney has been confirmed as the new Meath manager after his appointment was ratified at a meeting of the county board tonight. Club delegates voted 53-19 in favour of bringing in the former Monaghan boss.
McEnaney had been the unanimous choice of the three-man committee tasked by the county board with finding a new manager but there had been speculation he would not be accepted by the county’s clubs.
That notion was emphatically dismissed at tonight’s meeting with the Royal’s delegates giving him their backing. McEnaney succeeds Eamonn O'Brien, who was controversially ousted at the end of this year’s All-Ireland campaign. He has been handed a three-year term, which will be reviewed after the first two seasons.
