Sinn Fein ard comhairle member, Mr Martin McGuinness, has called on the British and Irish governments to build a new peace process which is strong enough to "withstand the unionist leaderships resistance to change".
Speaking yesterday, Mr McGuinness said that the current state of the peace process held out little prospect of achieving a lasting settlement. "If the unionist leaders hips refuse to engage in real talks, the two governments should proceed with those parties who are committed to democratic negotiations leading to a peace settlement" he said.
