Senior management at building group McInerney Holdings are continuing to build up their shareholdings, fuelling speculation that a buyout for the company may be imminent.

Director Mr Daniel McInerney and managing director Mr Barry O'Connor have increased their stakes in the company to 2 and 5.21 per cent, respectively.

Mr McInerney bought a 0.26 per cent stake, or 84,721 shares, at €3 each while Mr O'Connor purchased a 0.32 per cent stake, or 105,900 shares, at the same price.

Senior management at the group have increased their stake in the company in recent days following the disposal of Bank of Scotland's 19 per cent stake last week.

The combination of management increasing its stake and the current underlying positive trading environment is feeding speculation that management may launch a bid to take the group private.

The company is expected to deliver a trading update at its AGM tomorrow and a statement by management may follow.
