Motorsport:A fine season in the British Formula Ford Championship has helped Patrick McKenna claim the Dunlop Young Racing Driver of the Year title for 2009.
The 22-year-old from Swords progressed from kart racing to the Formula Ford 1600 Championship, impressing the judges with two second-place finishes, three third-place finishes, three fastest laps and two pole positions with the Jamun Racing team.
McKenna was runner-up for the award last year and saw off competition from five other drivers to take the prize, which includes The Dunlop Sexton Trophy and a supported season in motor racing during 2010 to the value of €50,000.
