Ms Sorcha McKenna, daughter of convicted paedophile Vincent McKenna, will hand a petition calling for mandatory sentences for sex offenders to the Minister for Justice, Mr O'Donoghue, this afternoon.
The petition, which has been signed by about 200,000 people, is calling for mandatory 10-year sentences for all convicted sex offenders. In November, McKenna was jailed for three years on 31 counts of indecent assault against Ms McKenna (19) over an eight-year period.
The Network of Rape Crisis Centres will hold a candlelight vigil outside the Department of Justice while Ms McKenna meets the Minister at 5.30 p.m.
The vigil will take place between 5 p.m and 6 p.m., outside the Department of Justice at 72-76 St Stephen's Green, Dublin.
