Ryan McMenamin will spend the next month on the sidelines after his dismissal in the closing stages of Tyrone's National Football League win over Dublin last Saturday night.

McMenamin, who could have faced up to eight-weeks out, has been handed a four-week ban following his straight red card for a kick at Kevin Bonner in injury-time at Croke Park.

Under 2007 rule changes kicking offences have been split into degrees of seriousness and McMenamin's has apparently fallen under the less serious category.

The sanction will keep the defender out of action until March 3rd - meaning he will miss this weekend's match with Fermanagh and the trip to Cork on February 24th - but he will be available when Tyrone take on Donegal on March 11th.
