THE SOCIAL NETWORK:Andrew Rudd welcomed guests to Medley, his new "venue" (it's not a restaurant, he insisted, but is available for private parties and other events) in Drury Court, just beside Brooks Hotel in Dublin 2, on Thursday evening. His mother, Prue Rudd, and brother Simon Rudd run Prue Simon's in Co Offaly, selling fancy pork products. The Rudds have moved from Busherstown House, in Co Offaly, to a house in nearby Shinrone.
She told me that eight of her nine children – Simon is staying at home to mind the dogs – are travelling to Cornwall for a reunion next weekend. David, her husband, was an evacuee to Cornwall during the second World War.
Julian Benson arrived from his new Dublin nightclub, Wilde on Wicklow Street. He told me he’d had an outfit custom-made by Dolce Gabbana and sent over for this evening just in case Lady Gaga and her team turned up after her show. Benson, who is also a talent agent, was celebrating one of his clients’ good news. Eoghan McDermott, who presented The Voice with Kathryn Thomas, has been confirmed as the new presenter for a 17-part film-themed TV series for RTÉ, starting in November.
