A scuffle broke out in the foyer of Dublin Circuit Criminal Court after supporters of victims in a sexual assault case attacked two men who had pleaded guilty.

Noel Byrne (44) and John O'Neill (42), of First Avenue, North Strand, Dublin, admitted seven charges of indecently assaulting a male on dates from March 1985 to December 1991. Byrne also pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a female on a date unknown in March 1998. Both men had been due to go on trial but pleaded guilty before a jury was sworn.

The scuffle lasted for about two minutes as the two men left the court following their guilty pleas.

One was knocked to the floor and kicked.
