A Tyrone man and a Wicklow man faced new charges at the Special Criminal Court yesterday in connection with the robbery of a Dun Laoghaire pub last year.

Mr Brian Cavlan (25), Alt more Drive, Dungannon, Co Tyrone, and Mr Anthony Walsh (23), Church View, Rathnew, Co Wicklow, were yesterday charged with the robbery of £6,966.40 and 11,000 cigarettes from the Purty Kitchen on November 13th last year.

They were also charged with falsely imprisoning Mr Jimmy McGurk and Mr David Whittle at the pub on the same date. Mr Cavlan was charged with possession of a semi-automatic shotgun and a revolver with intent to commit a robbery at the pub. Last year Mr Cavlan was charged with membership of an unlawful organisation and Mr Walsh with firearms and ammunition charges. The court was told then by Det Supt Peter Maguire that the robbery at the pub was carried out by members of the "Real IRA`'.

The two men were remanded in custody until April 23rd.
