Gardai in Roscommon last night released without charge two men they had been questioning about the murder of Ms Nancy Nolan (81) last month.

A 68-year-old man was released last night after being arrested early yesterday morning in Ballygar. A 36-year-old man, who was arrested at 11.45 a.m. at Castlerea, Co Roscommon, was also released just before midnight having been held at Roscommon Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Ms Nolan, a retired national school teacher and mother of six, was found dead inside the front door of her home in Ballaghlea, Ballygar on the Roscommon-Galway border early on February 16th and was last seen alive two days before that.

Chief Supt Bill Fennell said the two men had only been questioned about Mrs Nolan's death.
