Two men who were being questioned by detectives about the murder of a man in Belfast have been released without charge, police said today.

Dissident republicans were blamed at the time for killing Daniel McGurk (35), who was shot in his home at Ross Road in the lower Falls area of Belfast last month.

Three men shot him five times in the chest and legs when he opened the front door to them. He died a short time later in the nearby Royal Victoria Hospital.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland said the two men arrested for questioning about the murder were detained in Belfast yesterday.
