Mexico City - A congressional commission inquiring into the murder three years ago of the presidential candidate Luis Donaldo Colosio has found serious flaws in the judicial investigation of the shooting, a report said yesterday.
Most Mexicans doubt the official version that a lone gunman killed Mr Colosio. The all-party commission concluded 32 months of work by insisting more people were involved. The report said: "The lone assassin theory has not been proven, and they have tried to prove it using elements that are still inconsistent."
Mr Colosio was almost certain to win the presidency in 1994 as the candidate of the ruling Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI). His replacement, Ernesto Zedillo, became president.
Mario Aburto, (24) was sentenced to 45 years jail for the crime.
