Microsoft confirmed today that it will create 100 jobs at a new R&D centre based in Sandyford, south Dublin.
The investment was announced today by the Taoiseach at an event to mark the 20th anniversary of Microsoft in Ireland.
The company, which employs 1,200 in Sandyford, is setting up the new centre as one of four global R&D operations based outside the United States.
The other R&D centres are based in China, India and Denmark. Staff working at the centre will do research on digital terrestrial television and localisation of Microsoft software.

The firm came here in 1985 and has based its operations centre for Europe, Middle East and Africa in Dublin. Microsoft exports from Ireland are worth €8 billion per year.
