Microsoft is attempting to woo Japanese gamers with a preview of its upcoming Xbox console.
The company has used a Tokyo trade show to unveil its machine in the home market of rivals Sony and Nintendo.
Microsoft also announced that two Sega Dreamcast games are to be converted for the Xbox - Phantasy Star Online and Shenmue II. The titles join eleven Dreamcast hits already being prepared for conversion.
Experts say that Microsoft faces an uphill battle if it is to make up ground on Sony.
Its Playstation 2 console has sold 20 million units worldwide since March last year.
Nintendo's rival machine, the GameCube, launched in Japan on September 14th, and has already shipped 500,000 units.
There has also been speculation that Microsoft has been experiencing production problems with the Xbox.
It recently put the US launch date back a week to November 15th citing "detail in logistics".
And earlier this week the company announced that the console would ship with an eight-gigabyte hard drive instead of 10, for reasons it is yet to make clear.
