Pedro Barbosa scored in the last minute to give Sporting Lisbon a 1-0 win over Middlesbrough in the second leg of the UEFA Cup second knockout round tie tonight and put them into the quarter-finals 4-2 on aggregate.
The Portuguese side had already done most of the damage in England last week when they raced into a three goal lead before winning the first leg 3-2.
Tonight, Sporting captain Barbosa fired home past goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer after a run down the left and pull back by substitute Roudolphe Douala.
Striker Joseph-Desire Job missed the best chance for the Premiership side five minutes into the second half when he turned a low cross from the right by Szilard Nemeth just wide of the far post with goalkeeper Ricardo beaten.
